Dsqaured

The boys of Dsquared brought Milan a show jam packed with drama and flare. Dresses were tight, skirts were short and they were topped of with huge fur coats and brightly colored tights adding the dramatic flare. The common trend recently is that designers have toned down the "drama" factor in their collections but Dsqaured went against that sentiment. This collection however, was more adult than their past but I don't doubt that it will be well received by all of their previous audiences.

Great job boys!

Emporio Armani fall 2010

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this collection. Armani yet again plays successfully with the masculine/feminine look. I loved how the softness of the outfits was countered with a hard moment, perhaps in a motorcycle jacket or the black neckpiece accessory on most of the models. The main underlying theme was the black in the black velvet, this was accented with Tibetan reds, metallics, and shades of cream.

The section of jewel bright colors sent a roar through the crowd. This collection was a serious hit!

Happy Birthday Elizabeth Taylor!

Happy Birthday Liz! This is truly an amazing woman in a number of ways that I cannot count! Happy birthday to my idol! Her talents are outstanding, her beauty is otherworldly, her life is truly amazing. Liz was born on this day in 1932, she turns 78 today!

Versace sizzle

The runway was sizzling at the Versace show. The models walked to sounds of revving motorcycles, a sound track fitting for the collection. It was leather heavy and insanely sexy. Donatella pulled out all the stops on this one! Dresses were short, lots of skin baring cut-outs on the gowns, backless numbers, and the characteristic long slit. The show featured statement making colors or electric blues, classic black, canary yellows, red and a whole lotta leather accents.

Greg Kadel

I really like his work! Can't wait to see his next shoots! Above are his shots for Vogue Italia and Numero

Message from London

London fashion week lessons on Fall 2010:

1. Velvet
2. Trench coats, Belted
3. Looser shapes are back
4. Aviator jackets
5. Leather is back

First Turkish vogue

Hard to think that they haven't had one until now. Turkey on it's way, trying to become a fashion capital! Jessica Stam looks GORGEOUS on this debut cover.

Congrats Turkey!

D&G Ski style

Apres-ski, reindeer, sweaters and 'yeti' boots sum up the D&G show. The line was filled with sweater dresses, flirty skirts and dresses paired with yeti fur boots. The outfits were accessorized with ski gear, from helmets to goggles. The line was a great wardrobe for the snow bunny look.
There were flirty chiffon dresses and skirts for daywear, infused with the reindeer sweaters and yeti boots.

The collection overall was greatly inspired by the Vancouver Olympic games. A step in a very different direction for the label. What do you think?

Vivienne Westwood Red Label

Westwood wants you to care about the environment! She recently been quoted saying, "I just tell people, stop bying clothes. Why not protect this gift of life while we have it? I don't take the attitude that destruction is inevitable. Some of us would like to stop that and help people survive it." There were a vast array of tees printed with save the earth slogans. The rest of the collection however was classic Westwood. There was plaid, there was contrasting, clashing prints and there were brightly colored tights. Everything we know and love about Westwood was there!

There were great moments in this collection brought around by the softer simpler pieces that provided a satisfying break between the clashing patterns, such as the simple black evening cocktail dress towards the end. The beauty of a Westwood collection however is the chaos, any person at any age is bound to find a look they desire.

Burberry strikes again!

Chistopher Bailey does it once again! The Burberry show at London fashion week made a gigantic splash. The audience was filled with top-models, actresses and of course Anna Wintour in the front row. There was much buzz surrounding this show as Bailey has rejuvenated the brand bringing their name back into the spot light, all was excited to see what his vision was for the fall 2010 season.

Bailey said he "wanted it to be about heritage", he was inspired by the archives at Burberry especially a sketch of an aviator jacket he had found. The military, aviation presence was ever clear on the garments. Bailey used large gold buttons, accented shoulders and many short structured jackets. The collection was coat heavy, skirts were mid length as Bailey focused on using sky high boots. The color palette moved from green to blue.

The collection was fabulous, Bailey is seriously one of the most innovative, creative designers of our time.
