Versace Resort 2011

Sixties cutie are the words that came to my mind when I first saw this collection. Donatella gives us exactly what a resort collection should be: fun! The strap-up heels gave an unexpected edgier vibe to the clothes and gave that extra sex appeal. I definitely give her props, I have never seen that style of heel used without looking slightly trampy and cheap until this show.

My personal favorite are of course the great many shift dresses, but the black gown (picture 4) really stole my heart.. The dress is sexy while still being strong, it makes a statement, definitely. Another great show Donatella!

Emilio Pucci resort

Peter Dunas definitely hit a home run with this one! This is Dunas' second collection for the house, he started in October for the fall collection. He took over after the great Matthew Williamson and he is doing a great job!

The collection obviously featured the characteristic Pucci prints. There was a definite seventies vibe reflected in the great three piece suits matched with high waisted belts and neck scarfs. Paired with huge seventies shades just in case you didn't guess the decade from the clothes! Dunas is definitely bringing back the sex appeal o the label with great cut-out and micro-mini pieces.

Tory Burch Resort 2011

One word comes to mind: CUTE! The designer was inspired as we can see by her trip to Rajasthan, India. What the designer took away from the trip: prints, prints and more prints. The collection is extremely wearable, the ethnic vibe will definitely translate into another hit fort he designer.

This season the collections have been very dress heavy, Tory goes another way and presents a whole lotta separates, a move which will sure fire pay off! Tory Burch is expanding her empire with a major Asian expansion, including a store opening in Seoul very soon!

Stella Stella Stella!

Stella's resort creations are absolutely spot on for Resort. Her collection was refreshing, original, gorgeous, exactly what a collection should be! I am absolutely crazy about this collection, I would wear every single ensemble. The collection included many shift dress so you got to make sure those legs are toned for the summer!

Stella went into origami this season, using Lanvin-esque style foldings on some of the one shoulder dresses and on the back of the shift dresses. Prints were inspired by botanical flowers, done on shit dresses in white and a beautiful sky blue. Stella also explored this great cut-out technique that translated into a great delicate outfit.

Stella's use of coloring, prints, and cutout techniques was absolutely ravishing, the collection was as fabulous as the celebrities in the audience!
I simply have two little words to say about this collection: Absolute PERFECTION!

Oscar De La Renta

The man has seriously NOT lost his touch one bit! This is by far my favorite resort collection till now! Oscar De La Renta hit this one outta the park! Oscar completely disregarded this season's fixation with minimalism and went with some pretty interesting colors and embellishments. There was the added youth element which came alive in the accessories such as great leather belts and his use of blazer certainly made a huge difference. He certainly did leave his clients with many choices, with different silhouettes, a great short, tight gowns and full blown ball gowns

Not was the fashion insane, Oscar really did embrace the 21st century! Some of the models were clutching iPads as they walked the runway and the show was also streamed live on facebook! Oscar proved that he is anything but an old timer!

DvF Resort

Diane Von Furstenberg flipped a 180 on her resort show, this show was ultra-femine in cotrast to her menswear inspired fall show. The line was inspired by a 1983 photograph of the designer sitting on a stool with a pink teddy in front of a wall of mirrors. This sexy image was transformed into the runway layout, the models walked out checked themselves out in the mirror then stepped though the key-hole onto the runway. A very play-ful fun way to portray a collection.

The clothes were fabulous for a resort collection, Furstenberg played with prints on very short dresses, high-waisted shorts, and many swimsuits. The color scheme of holiday colors was the cherry on top of the resort pie. Everything about this collection from the way it was presented to the clothes to the accessories all transmitted one message; DVF's tribute to everything feminine!

I HEART YSL!

I absolutely love YSL's resort collection! Looks like Stefano Pilati is finally lightening up, a drastic change from his fall show in February. Pilati paid tribute to the seventies using trends such as high waisted shorts throughout the collection. The amazing this about this collection is that is really felt like a YSL collection as apposed to the last ready to wear endeavor. The shapes Pilati uses are new and innovative.

DOnt even get me started on his fantastic use of colors! Pilati paid tribute here to the classic YSL colors, fuchsia, coral, lilac. A great combination is the mix of both fuchsia and mustard color.

The silhouettes, the bandeaus, the coloring, everything from head to toe, I just love it! A smash hit for the brand and for Pilati.

Bottega Veneta Resort

The collection exudes the allure of powerful woman the whole collection screams strong, headstrong, go getter woman. The collection although strongly tailored for a cruise or a beach location, many of the pieces work for the city.

At Bottega the masculine feminine trend was explored in a most interesting way. Maier did this is a very relaxed way, when the shoulders were bold by the clothes were oversized, when the dress was feminine the footwear was converse, the play between the feminine elegance of Bottega and the strong lines and powerful pieces was done exquisitely.
